An Intersting Quote from Mark Twain

Yesterday I saw an interesting quote from Mark Twain

I do not allow my schooling to interfere with my education.

This may apply to JEE coaching. If you feel, you are not getting adequate inputs, you have to put in your efforts. Finally, you want a seat in the best institute not they.

So do not allow your coaching institute to spoil your education. Depend on them to a large extent, but listen to your judgement regarding your time table.

Improving Memory for IIT JEE

There was an article in a Telugu Daily Eenadu today on page 13 on improving memory.

It talks of three stages

Registration
Retention
Recollection

It emphasizes association.

Associate new information with some old information.

I am emphasizing revision of X class materials till 30th April. Then from May 1 when you read XI material you can associate with known things in X class material. You will have better memory then. Don't create a situation where you learning anything without a continuity. Create a continuity by remembering old chapters. That will make learning new chapters more easy.

I shall write some more pointed covered in this article

Pursuit of Excellence and Success

Bonnie St. John Deane

Winner in Disabled Olympics, Harvard and Oxford Degree holder, White House Official on National Economic Council

Who or what motivates you?

Her answer: "I motivate me."

Her method: Five step exercise.

Five steps

1.What are your payoffs? List down the benefits or rewards from achieving or completing the task.

2. Find deeper meaning in your goals. Find compelling reasons for completing your goal.

3. Get your dreams at half price. Find more goals which can be reached with the work that you are putting in for reaching this goal. Work with a friend. Develop a plan to achieve the goal efficiently with less cost.

4. Stop underestimating your odds for success: Underestimating your odds to succeed can stop you dead in your tracks. Believe in your success till the end of the task.

Err on the side of optimism. Spend less time with people who discourage you on the task or goal. But don't just believe in positive thinking. Investigate the odds, have a real confidence that they are within your teach and always work on improving the odds.

5. Change your real odds or winning or improving odds: Learn from people who have succeeded in reaching the goal before.

Concentrate on 3 Points Every Hour

Try to identify three important points every hour and try to think of them twice or thrice in that hour.

This may an easy way to accumulate knowledge throughout the day.

These three points can be repeated also after some days. You can recall these three points very easily and along with them many other points you learned during that hour will also be recalled by the memory system of yours.

Learn some points very very well and many more points will come out of your by an association mechanism.

Commit yourself to JEE

Commit yourself to JEE as early as possible.

A JEE selection is as good as representing India at olympics. It is equivalent to becoming an MLA. At this point in time, your JEE selection is definitly equivalent to such achievements. It gives you the potential to achieve bigger things in future. Whether you will become an MLA or MP depends on how you use the opportunity in subsequent days.

I am writing this similarity so that you can feel the importance of your venture.

Early in life, secure your ranking in the society. Then you only have to maintain it from a position of advantage. Others have to challenge you from a position of disadvantage. They require three times effort to displace you from your rank.
